Work Ethic is Dying?

It doesn’t get any more cynical than this

See the image below:

This person unknown to me is much better than I am at expressing the American problem in a few simple words. The irrefutable facts he mentions apply to more than half of the US-population with rising tendency, even though the wealth in this country exists to provide remedies that would benefit the society as a whole. To deny this would mean to dispute reality. I’ve been there, I’ve worked at Walmart for eight years, with great difficulty trusting my eyes and ears and at the same time knowing that I’m in the United States of America, which (almost) everyone in Europe considers the leading country in the world.

It should not go unmentioned who pays for said food stamps. Not Walmart, not Corporate America, who are shirking their responsibility because they cannot get enough down their greedy throat. It’s the common taxpayer, you and me, which makes it doubly outrageous. This is how Americans in their own country are being cheated good and proper, and they’re letting it happen to them.

Of course, politicians have a moral obligation to intervene through regulation in the interest of the common good. Multi-billion corporations should pay their employees decent wages, so that no public tax money has to be spent on food stamps. Ration cards came into use elsewhere in post-war times – not at all in the 21st century.

And where are the Churches? Here all of a sudden, where it is about the real, earthly problems of the little man, they do not interfere in politics – that is very strange. Are they afraid of having to pay taxes like their flock of sheep, so that their hypocritical business will no longer yield enough profit? You don’t have to open your eyes too wide to see how representatives of politics and the clergy work together hand in hand to play the little man for a sucker and line their own pockets. This is arranged to keep the masses in line.

After all, one crow does not peck out the eye of another. Amen.

Social Media Reveals the Mind of Trump-Supporters

President Biden wants to unify his country to overcome the polarization between left and right, Democrats and Republicans. My assessment is that he cannot achieve this goal. Four years, still difficult to bear, under a president who managed to manipulate the minds of millions of people with untruths using the most primitive methods, have reignited the division of the country – a division that exists since time immemorial.

The majority of those who voted for Trump in 2020 and continue to support him will not be swayed. They have long since left the path of independent thinking. Church and military, preferably both together, seem to be the ideal environment and breeding ground for the perfect brainwashing – for the acceptance of foreign ideas, for the parroting of cheap slogans that easily catch on. The proof is nowhere more evident than in the social media.

People of this type post anything, as little school children do: Cartoons, colorful pictures with slogans, macabre jokes about people who think differently – just nothing of their own. They are obviously incapable to summarize their own thoughts, neither verbally nor in writing, and certainly not in an essay.

Their thoughts come from other sources, and they merely copy what is convenient for them, however absurd it may be, how little logic exists in the context, and no matter how old they are themselves. Here one can see the true intellectual background of the Trump insanity.

They are sick, mentally sick, and they cannot be helped. It is no wonder that the psychopath Trump was elected by such people.

And the ignorant will continue to support him.

“Government Overreach”

From my Writing Room

Recently I read an interesting essay about the American self-understanding of individual rights versus government overreach. It was about the perceived sacred right of private gun ownership. American society, the author criticized, is about the only one that values freedom over life. This is what makes America so unique, and the same thirst for freedom – back then in a justified way – had already led to the separation of the former American colonies from the British colonial yoke, at a time when this world was quite different from today.

This may well be true – and if it really is, many things would have to change today in people’s mind. The American problems are not too difficult to identify, provided that the ubiquitous partisanship does not resonate in the assessment.

For a more just society it is undoubtedly necessary that the collective good of the community stands decisively above the individual interests of few people and institutions, which are legally granted special rights through the power of their money – and from which the masses have to suffer. There are only two ways that can stop such a tragic development: Either governmental intervention, or a revolution from the bottom up.

It is sometimes hard to grasp what Americans think when it comes to individual rights. Because what most of them pray for actually signals something quite different compared to what is going on in their heads.

Aren’t brotherhood and mutual compassion the noble goals of an upright Christian? Oddly enough, they coincide with the goals of communism: We are all brothers and sisters – that is their common confession. As a consequence of such credo, the common good takes precedence over self-interest. The strange thing is that mankind has never put into practice either of these ideals, as much as they invoked them throughout human history.

Power, greed and egoism always stood in the way, but unfortunately also the stupidity of clueless pretenders who pray to their God and see no contradiction between their precepts and their actual behavior, including their views. If they would – Donald J. Trump could never have received a single vote from a “Christian” electorate, which in reality turned out his strongest base.

Abused power and injustice remain untouched as long as there are gullible people with limited horizons who make themselves stooges of a wrong cause.

Nothing Changes

As long as Firearms circulate in the U.S., Mass Murder will continue

From my Writing Room

What are stricter gun laws supposed to accomplish? Weapons are in circulation in the USA like toothbrushes. On that note, any restriction of certain types of weapons will not solve the deadly problem – unless the rate of fire leads to the macabre conclusion that the Boulder murderer merely would have had enough time to shoot “only” five people instead of ten.

Only a single, unambiguous and uninterpretable law could at least curtail these acts – an absolute ban on firearms to tackle the profusion of any kind of guns in private hands. But such a common sense step will never happen in a country with a culture of shooting and killing, framed as a fundamental right to self-defense – not even in the light of supposed Christianity and the unspeakable suffering of victims and their relatives.

There is no other modern western country where people shoot each other to such an extent as in the United States. This is not related to the reasonableness of the people in other civilized parts of the world, but rather to the existing legal order. If something is found to be wrong, then a government must implement laws that at least provide relief. That is what a democratically elected parliament and the executive authority are for. These mass killings in the USA are not only gruesome – they are also an expression of an all too liberal, flawed system of justice.

Yet, President Biden once again wants to regulate firearms ownership more strictly, including certain types of guns, but this sounds more like an act of stalling perplexity. Someone who intends to go to a shopping mall to shoot people has very likely finished with himself and the rest of the world; in any case, he will no longer be bothered by any restrictive laws. Much less will he have trouble getting a gun in the U.S., even if he has failed every background check.

Nearly unbridled support for the weapons insanity also arrives from the same side, which later officially laments the victims: There are public backyard areas in the U.S. where elected officials in neighborhoods with pure poverty not only spend vast sums of tax money on a shooting range, but seriously agree to demands that their county should be declared a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.” Any attempt to convince people with such a disrupted mindset of the opposite is likely to be in vain.

Some particularly highly intelligent people manage to argue as follows: It is not the gun that kills, but the person who handles it. This eminently remarkable view is as ingenious as it is undoubtedly correct. For the very same reason, firearms do not belong in private hands – particularly not in a country in which an obviously not insignificant ratio of the population exhibits mental deficits.

But, nothing will change to prevent the gruesome consequences of gun insanity in the future. The lobby of profit-seeking gun advocates, like the National Rifle Association (NRA), is too powerful. Human life, on the other hand, does not count. As long as that doesn’t change, it will be the same as always.

And thus, when the almost routine horror and grief have given way to everyday life, it will continue as before and straight on to the next massacre. And the blather of tougher gun laws will erupt again.

It almost looks like a calculated strategy.

Praying and Shooting

Once again, the good Lord had one bad day after the other, just like on most other days in human history before. And no – the murdered people of the most recent mass shootings (seven in seven days) had no choice; they were innocent people who showed up at the wrong place at an unfortunate time. It could have been anyone. And the insanity will continue because guns are as commonplace in the U.S. as the use of toothbrushes.

Legalized criminal organizations like the National Rifle Association (NRA) have successfully manipulated the original intent of the Second Amendment for pure profit, and the mass of Americans buy into it because they allow themselves to be systematically brainwashed.

It was no accident, but a logical consequence that a character like Donald Trump could become president.

America is Black and White, with a Lot in Between

I was very impressed because it was perfectly organized, and I would like to express my gratitude to Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security for their overseeing assistance, to the state agencies, including the Georgia National Guard, State Patrol, and the many Healthcare workers. They all ensure that the free Corona mass immunizations in Clarkesville/Georgia run smoothly, day after day.

Especially among the National Guard – and I noticed this – were many African-Americans, with whom their white colleagues worked hand in hand, sometimes even having a kind word to say. That’s how it should normally be. They harmonized with each other and together like normal, civilized people, which otherwise cannot generally be said of this country.

As a long time resident of the United States, I can only say that you have given me hope and confidence today after these shocking four years of Donald Trump, this hatred towards dissenters and people of different skin color. Every normal feeling person knows that this cannot be the right way. Don’t let too many white farts ruin your country and your future. America is black and white, with a lot in between – that’s a good thing, that’s the great opportunity.

Shoe Laces and Chewing Gum

What has been drummed into Americans

From my Writing Room

Almost everything in the US is left to run itself to a certain extent, because the majority of Americans is hostile to any regulations. Some consequences of this are what can now be seen in Texas: people have flooded homes with icicles hanging from the ceiling, and they are lining up for drinking water like in a third world country.

Power companies have created local grids to circumvent federal regulations with the ulterior motive to pocket as much profit as possible. Meanwhile, the power grid throughout nearly the entire country is held together literally by shoe laces and chewing gum. As soon as a bird shits on the line or everyone turns on their coffee makers at the same time, the power goes out.

Wooden power poles… I can see one every day in my backyard in Blairsville/Georgia when I look out the kitchen window. Each time I feel as if I am looking into the face of a ghost, or as if something has catapulted me back into a past century. I have a faint memory of them as a child: At the end of the 60s/beginning of the 70s, such poles were removed in the GDR (former East Germany) and the lines within cities, towns and villages were completely laid underground. Yet, when we watched the West German television every evening, then we saw the progress in western democracies, and we were convinced at that time that the GDR was lagging behind the world standard in all things developmentally. [1] That was half a century ago. I was there, I have witnessed it: The powerlines disappeared from the streetscape. The rich USA can’t bring this about? They land on Mars, while down on earth, in their own country, everything goes from hand to mouth.

Americans nowadays have a strong tendency to acquiesce in everything that is done to them; they rather leave everything up to their dear God, indulge themselves in conspiracy theories and unrealistic conclusions while keep watching as everything collapses. And when they actually do decide to protest, then they do not bring the matter to a countable end result. [2]

The pattern always remains the same: The root of all evil in the United States is the free rein of the big money, utterly unregulated and unattended by any government [3], and its accumulation in the hands of a few who don’t give a damn about the collective good of the country. It makes no sense to support somebody like Trump, who did not do anything about it, either – on the contrary, he gave the wealthiest corporations the largest tax relief in history.

It rather takes staunch government intervention to bring about the equality of treatment of all people and a fair distribution of wealth, as it was the basic liberal idea leading to the American birth through a revolt against the British oppressors from 1775 to 1783. This has nothing to do with socialism, as is usually drummed into Americans – take a look into your own, American history books. Read what Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican, had to say about the big money harming the American society, about government control, about Unions, about more justice in terms of equality. The moral of his views is valid, then as now.

As long as Americans do not or do not want to recognize the true problem in their country and do something about it, they can be dealt with at will, and nothing will ever really change – regardless who the president is and regardless which party they vote for.

Notes:

[1] We could not travel to the West to visit our own relatives. An impenetrable inner-German border with minefields, barbed wire, watchtowers, and automatic firing systems made every attempt to escape a suicide mission. – The travel ban was the main cause of the peaceful revolution in the GDR in the fall of 1989, which eventually led to the fall of the Wall and Germany’s reunification.

[2] The “Black Lives Matter” initiative has literally petered out, it seems.

[3] Unlike in democratic countries in Western Europe.

In the Name of Christianity

The History of the Church is the Story of Moral Failure and Crime

From my Writing Room

Copyright © 2021 by Uwe Bahr

Particularly since the beginning of the second millennium Anno Domini, it was the Christian church that commissioned whole armies of knights to plunder and murder their way through the history of the world. At no time since has there been another institution in mankind, so blatant, so full of insolence, treachery and mendacity.

To make a complete list – if such an undertaking is possible at all – of the Christian essence would mean to fill whole volumes. As a logical consequence at the previous end, it is no coincidence that churches in the United States are the stirrup holders of a character like Donald Trump – basically, they were and are his principal base. In this, the churches have remained in their millennia-old tradition of moral failure: Trump could talk as often as he wanted about “if you have money, if you are famous, you can grab every woman between her legs”; he could pay hush money to “adult actresses” as often as he wanted, or state “I could stand on New York’s Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and still not lose voters” [1] – the overwhelming majority of the church people voted for him anyway.

As if that wasn’t already enough: Most of them still support him. And it was the churches and many of their blatherer that actively brainwashed their sheep in the decision-making process.

We deliberately are not mentioning here the storm on the Capitol. We are talking about historic facts, in this particular case the most recent ones included, to emphasize the path leading to the insurrection of 6 January 2021 and that this path, although not predictable from the outset, nevertheless was not an absolutely surprising element for all those who have followed Trump’s presidency attentively and with an impartial mind, including the words he used in conjunction with racism and radical, militant groups on the far political right. [2] All this did not keep millions of church people from praying for “our president Donald Trump.”

To return to the topic at hand: “Criminal” is not a foreign word in connection with churches – it is, at the same time, a rather very mild description for the work of the churches. Their involvement in criminal activities is as old as the church itself. To this day, the history of the Church is the history of mass stultification of the people for the purpose of self-enrichment and plenitude of power; it is a history of lies and hypocrisy, of oppression, exploitation, and extermination; it is the history of persecution and murder of dissidents, the history of the cruelest wars of conquest in the name of forced Christianization. [3]

Christianization, conducted in brutal, bloody campaigns by church warriors like the chivalric order with the cross on their rear, was a common method in the early medieval Europe and later in the New World (America) – and, in each single case, the crusades were nothing else but ruthless wars of conquest under the guise of God; with the Cross in one hand, and the Sword in the other, translated to the enslaved precisely as follows: ‘If you refuse to accept the former, you will get to feel the latter.’ It was not millions, but billions who suffered under the cruelty and brutality of the Christian cross – to the extent of seismic proportions. One Holocaust took place after the other, and no God to this day has ever intervened.

The churches justified slavery and told people that were treated like cattle to obey their masters. And, it is the church’s history of chumming up with dictators like Adolf Hitler; the history of scandals, of cover-ups and corruption up to the systematic rape of Altar boys; and it is also the history of tax avoidance for their own benefit while evincing charity to the justification of their purpose; it is the reality of the churches being the largest fan club for a demagogue and pervert like Mob-President Donald Trump.

The church as a whole has never been judicially indicted for its ruthless criminality, let alone convicted – as, on the other hand, has occasionally happened with other criminal organizations. It is as if Adolf Hitler with his National Socialist Workers’ Party (NSDAP) had never ceased to exist – and everyone today is kindly invited to participate. This is the church.

Notes:

[1] Donald Trump, 23 January 2016, at a campaign rally in Iowa. – Americans voting for Trump must have been well aware what they were doing, unless they were completely out of their mind.

[2] “Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.” Donald Trump during the first presidential debate on 29 September 2020, when being asked if he is willing to condemn white supremacist and militia groups.

[3] To give an example: The Pruzzen, the “Old Prussians (Alt-Preussen)”, were a tribe on the Amber Coast between the estuary arms of the Vistula (Weichsel)- and the Memel Rivers into the Baltic Sea. They resisted forced Christianization by the Teutonic Knights in the 12th/13th century and were subsequently almost completely exterminated. In the following period settlers from the Holy Roman Empire migrated into the Pruzzen’s territory (note the similarity of the Christian conquest of the North American Continent) and astonishingly assumed the name of the “infidels”. – The terms “Prussia” and “Prussians” result from this historical context. Technically speaking, the “real” Prussians as they became known later on, virtually never existed; for they had long since been exterminated. – My later ancestors descend from the former area of the “Old Prussians”.

Complicitous

The Capitol riot – a sanctioned crime?

From my Writing Room

There is no excuse for that much irresponsibility: Everybody who has voted for Trump has become an accessory to the crime conducted by the mob on 6 January 2021 in Washington D.C., if involuntarily or not. And they – his voters -, who made the untold Trump-saga after all possible, are also jointly responsible for furthering the radicalization of the United States of America.

Cluelessness won’t serve any evasiveness, either; and much less for a wretched failure of this magnitude: Going to the polls and having the nerve to vote for such an idiot. These people in their anti-socialism and Antifa-mania – without even having a historic clue about the origins of “Antifa” in Italy and Germany and what it really constituted against Fascism and Nazism – have intensified America’s advance towards a society of extreme excesses and, consequently, have violated the minimum standards set for decent citizens belonging to a civilized country. The same people commonly love to talk about “those liberals”, mentally obviously not capable to understand the historic facts about the liberal roots of their own country, not to mention to define what “Liberalism” actually stands for.

The country is in urgent need for changes virtually impossible to implement with confused people of such dimension. Changes typically originate from the human brain before any materialization within a society as a whole can occur. However, an alarming number of ignorant people residing in certain areas of the United States, far remote from the slightest ability for straight reasoning, give little hope for the future of a country already frighteningly divided and politically polarized.

Those in the belief that the events of 6 January 2021 were staged by Democrats and Antifa groups consequently must also assume that then-president Trump, when he addressed and incited the crowd to walk down on Pennsylvania Avenue, thus was talking to thousands of left-wing radicals. It was nothing of that sort. But maybe it was not even Trump himself talking, but an Antifa-Double instead?

There are really people on the loose in this country believing and spreading such nonsense, despite the fact that none of the lunatics detained by security agencies after the assault on the Capitol could be linked to Antifa, or any other left-wing movements. Also a conspiration?

And for all of this, for all the tremendous damage done to the country through the myth of a “stolen election”, bred by those who stupidly fell and voted for an empty-headed charlatan – there won’t even be any punishment for Trump himself and his minions?

If so, it would degrade the events of 6 January 2021 to a government sanctioned crime – and nothing else.

Have the Churches send the Checks!

Hypocrites get offended by the truth

From my Writing Room

The churches should be taxed on the spot, so they have no longer to act as the good Samaritans to justify their sanctimonious existence by providing millions for charity while at the same time line their own pockets with billions. Finally, the church as the most ardent Trump-Fan Club and leading member of the Special Interest Group (SIG)* would serve a good purpose on the real side of this world.

The churches in the US own property worth 700 billion, and they do not pay a single dime property taxes for it. Lowbrow parishioners pay their tithes to the Holy Joes – and the churches pay zero taxes for it. The churches invest from the tithes on the stock market to gamble in the name of their Lord – and they pay no taxes for it. The churches, one of the largest profiteers in the country, last year made billions on interest alone, and they paid no taxes for it. Yet their stooges, scheming blatherer by trade, preach Christian generosity during each and any of their Sunday morning story time.

Have the churches – with “their” money that is grift anyway – pay the stimulus checks for millions of Americans in urgent need; to the ones not even able to afford the food for the next day. Have the greedy Pied Pipers provide for the American worker, who busts his chops to no avail, faltering under the burden of a deadly pandemic with no God within sight. If the churches, merely engaged in window-dressing, would pay their fair share into the state coffers, every stimulus check going out to the American workers would be probably “a little bit more” than just 1,400.00 dollars.

Have the holy grifters and charlatans pay for it instead of adding the costs to the national debt – to the detriment of your grandchildren, who will have to stand Sam sooner or later.

Have mercy, at least this one time.
